I just absolutely loved making this sign! It’s perfect to display by your house plants OR in a garden area. It’s great in adding to that rustic decor feel!
[Note: This SVG design is available for purchase in my Etsy shop. It is included in the Nature bundle. Find Link Below]
Tools Used:
Removable Vinyl
Transfer Paper
Weeder Tool
Trimmer OR Scissors
Cutting Machine (I use Cricut Maker 3)
Rustic piece of wood
Acrylic Paint
Brushes
Paint Markers
Cricut Cutting Mat
STEP ONE: Cut and prep vinyl on your Cricut mat and load into your Cricut machine. Once cut, remove from cutting mat. I am always careful to remove slowly to not separate the vinyl from the backing. Now grab that transfer paper lay it over the vinyl and smooth out air bubbles. I like to run over around edges of the design to really ensure it picks up the pieces. On this project, I chose to remove the in cuts so I could use it as a stencil. Carefully, line up and position the design onto the wood.
STEP TWO: Paint your wood piece. Let it dry before you remove the vinyl. I am SUPER impatient and I often end up removing too soon. So if you are like me and can’t wait be prepared to touch up! 🙂
STEP THREE: My favorite part! What can I say I find this really apPEELing! LOL! Slowly peel off your vinyl revealing your beautiful work of art. If you have some bleeding of paint no worries. Use some paint that matches background and clean things up.
STEP FOUR: I went around the letters with a white paint marker to make them standout even more. This is the point where you an get creative and add in the extra details. Every time I do an art project I always have a vision of what I want to aim for, but I usually always change and adapt as I go. If I mess up it really gives me a chance to get creative to make it pretty again!
STEP FIVE: Add a finish if you would like. Mod Podge is great. I would use the spray if brush/sponge strokes are unwanted. I chose not to add a finish to this one. I really liked how it looked without it. If it’s going to be outside or has a chance of getting ruined I would recommend a finish.
